Raleigh, NC - Grand Master Hwang Kwang Sung, President of Unified International Taekwon-Do Federation, conducted promotional testing on Friday Sept 7th in Cary, NC at Fred G. Bond Metro Park which runs one of the rare ITF programs in the state.  The next day Grand Master Hwang held a four-hour TaeKwon-Do seminar in Raleigh. The seminar was a success under the organization of Mrs. Elizabeth Roshdy. The seminar hosted approximately 50 people from Cary, Chapel Hill, Jacksonville, and Charlotte.

To begin, Grand Master Hwang attacked the basics head on. After a half hour of basic punching, from sitting stance practicing sine wave, and another half hour of basic kicking, the attendees definitely had a new perspective on basics training.  Chon-Ji Tul was the focus of the seminar's forms; the attendees were instructed to pay particular attention to fundamental movements in concert with the Theory of Power and were strongly encouraged to always practice it.

Sparring started off well with attendees from Charlotte as the Grand Master explained the ITF tournament rules of free sparring.  Aaron Reza and Noah Winstead, two Cary red belts, squared off after learning a new kicking combination.  Amanda Reza was paired with a new friend from Jacksonville to finish up the session of sparring for the seminar.

Grand Master Hwang, who was actually there when events took place, gave a synopsis of the history of Taekwon-Do.

Grand Master Hwang was kind enough to join Mrs. Roshdy and the students for dinner that evening at Seoul Garden Korean Restaurant in Raleigh.

The weekend was inspirational with the opportunity to meet, learn directly from, and talk with Grand Master Hwang. New friendships were made and old ones strengthened. We look forward to reconvening for his future visits!
